Rest assured, there is not actual banana bread in this smoothie. Just a few simple ingredients that add subtle hints of the classic banana bread.

I personally prefer my smoothies to resemble a milkshake - rich and creamy with a thick consistency. Which is exactly what we have here! This banana bread protein smoothie encompasses all the components of your favorite milkshake but is much healthier and made with nutritious ingredients. Winner!!


INGREDIENTS

·       1 cup water

·       1 banana, frozen

·       1/3 cup cooked quinoa or buckwheat

·       1 tablespoon raw walnuts or hemp seeds

·       2 teaspoon cold-pressed flax oil

·       1 medjool date, pitted

·       flesh from 1 vanilla bean or ½ teaspoon alcohol-free pure vanilla extract

·       ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon

·       pinch allspice

·       extra walnuts and ground cinnamon for topping


DIRECTIONS

Place in your blender in the order of the ingredients listed, then blend for 30 seconds or until smooth. Pour into a glass and top with additional walnuts and ground cinnamon.
