Somehow the combination of sweet and spicy just does it for me! Pair the sweetness of the butternut squash with the flavors of garlic, chili powder and cumin, seem to make a perfect blend of flavors!

Talk about a great dish on a cold day, throw in a little cornbread and the deal is sealed!


INGREDIENTs

·       1 1/2 cups Butternut squash

·       2 stalks Celery

·       1 (6 oz) can no salt added Tomato paste

·       1 (15 oz) can no salt added Diced tomatoes

·       1 (15 oz) can no salt added Crushed tomatoes

·       2 tsp Salt

·       1 tsp Pepper

·       3 tbsp Chili powder

·       1 tbsp Cumin

·       1 tsp Garlic powder

·       1 tsp Onion powder

·       1 tsp Dried oregano

·       1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Top with jalapenos if you like….I like mine spicy!


DIRECTIONS

In a large non-stick sauté pan, cook the onion and ground meat over medium high heat until the meat is just browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Pour the meat and onion into the crockpot and add the rest of the ingredients. Cook on high heat for 4 hours, or on low heat for 8 hours. Enjoy with toppings of choice if desired.
